School Information
Dear Parents, A warm welcome to King’s School, our motto is “working together for success” and this underpins everything that we do. We hope that by working closely with young people and their parents we will secure enjoyment and allow students to reach their personal and academic potential. In February 2009, Ofsted said that ’King’s is a good, rapidly improving school with some outstanding features. Students’ achievements are good. They reach above average standards in their work and make good progress in their personal development’. We have a strong commitment to make our students confident young adults who can make the right decisions in a changing world. We want our students to appreciate the value of life long learning and to understand their responsibilities as good citizens. In order for students to thrive they need an orderly, disciplined environment that creates a positive learning climate. We believe high standards of behaviour, uniform and regular attendance allow students to achieve. Ofsted remarked that students ‘behave well, have positive attitudes and get on well with each other.’ A strong partnership with parents is vital and we hope that together we can ensure that your child makes the most of the opportunities at King’s. We believe that students only thrive when they are in a safe and secure environment and we work hard to ensure that students’ personal development is a central part of the school. ‘Students have a good understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and a balanced diet. They have an excellent understanding of how to keep themselves safe and free from harm because of the excellent range of guidance and personal support they receive from staff.’ Ofsted 2009 The majority of our students come from a service background and we are used to the mobility that surrounds military life. Ofsted reported that King’s ‘works hard to provide a stable and caring environment in which students can learn and grow. The school also minimises the impact of the disruption caused by service life’. We have clear and effective support systems to ensure that students settle quickly and successfully. King's School takes in secondary aged pupils from Gütersloh, Paderborn, Sennelager, Bielefeld and Münster. We are at an exciting stage of our development as we aim to move from a good to an outstanding school. We are constantly looking at ways to improve and we use the voice of students and parents to reflect on how to move forward. I hope you will offer your positive comments and constructive criticism to help us develop further. Indeed Ofsted felt that ‘the school has excellent capacity to improve further.’ I look forward to meeting you and your children in the near future.
