Dear Parents,

A warm welcome to King’s School, our motto is “working together for success” and this underpins everything that we do. We hope that by working closely with young people and their parents we will secure enjoyment and allow students to reach their personal and academic potential.

Ofsted in January 2012 said that:’ King’s is a good school, Students’ learn and achieve well. Consequently, by the end of year 11 student’s attainment is well above the national average and progress is often outstanding’. We have a strong commitment to make our students confident young adults who can make the right decisions in a changing world. We want our students to appreciate the value of lifelong learning and to understand their responsibilities as good citizens.

In order for students to thrive they need an orderly, disciplined environment that creates a positive learning climate. We believe high standards of behaviour, uniform and regular attendance allow students to achieve. Ofsted remarked that students’ ‘behaviour is outstanding, students are courteous and well-mannered and these exceptional standards are maintained despite the high levels of student mobility.’ A strong partnership with parents is vital and we hope that together we can ensure that your child makes the most of the opportunities at King’s.

The majority of our students come from a service background and we are used to the mobility that surrounds military life. We have clear and effective support systems to ensure that students settle quickly and successfully. King's School takes in secondary aged pupils from Gütersloh, Paderborn, Sennelager, Bielefeld and Münster. Some students from Münster are entitled to our weekly boarding facility, this provision was seen as outstanding by Ofsted where they stated: ’boarders thoroughly enjoy their experience and say they feel safe, happy and comfortable.’

We are at an exciting stage of our development as we aim to move from a good to an outstanding school. We are constantly looking at ways to improve and we use the voice of students and parents to reflect on how to move forward. I hope you will offer your positive comments and constructive criticism to help us develop further.

I look forward to meeting you and your children in the near future.
