BYOD Policy

King’s School is committed to providing a technology based learning environment that creates opportunities to support and extend learning and teaching. As part of this commitment and following on from the installation of a wireless network around the School we are now in a position to allow staff and students access to the KSBYOD (Kings School Bring Your Own Devices) wireless network using their own technology (smartphone, laptop or tablet).

This element of King’s School ICT provision is a privilege extended to staff and students and as such there are rules associated with this KSBYOD initiative that, if broken or abused will result in that privilege being removed and School sanctions being applied.

This is a voluntary scheme and particular note should be made of the fact that the school accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of any phone, laptop, tablet or other device brought into school.

There will be a phased introduction of the KSBYOD initiative as per the timetable below:

a.      06 October – All members of staff

b.     13 October – All student boarders

Users will connect to the KSBYOD wireless network using a common password which will be communicated via the Intranet home page. Then users should open an internet browser session which will take them to the authentication page where they will input their School network logon username and password and tick the box to confirm that they accept the terms and conditions of the KSBYOD usage policy.

All students and staff access to the internet will be fully logged and will be filtered by content which has been agreed by the SLT.

Students whose parents have been opted out of the KSBYOD policy will have this recorded in their SIMS record.
